Mini exercise challenges or workout sessions.

For mini workout sessions-pick a song you like and pick a area you want to workout (arms for example) or a specific exercise and challenge yourself to do just that during the whole song. For beginners, pick shorter songs and overtime, try to find songs that are longer and longer.

For an extra challenge, use weights and slowing increase the weights overtime.

Finding The Right Exercise That Works For You

So we all know that exercising is an important part of staying fit; but we don't all like doing the same things or have the same goals or motivation. That's o.k.; there is the right exercise for everyone!

What do you like to do? Are you into sports? Dancing?
What are your goals? Do you just want to build more muscle to get stronger and more toned? Do you need to lose a lot of weight or just a little or just want to maintain your weight?

Some people get inspiration from their favorite sport stars. Others want to train like the Kpop stars or Victoria Secret models. Some people enjoy pole dancing even as it makes them feel sexy. Music often helps get people pumped and motivated. Gets people moving. I suggest making your own personal workout playlist (some fast songs. Some slower or relaxing songs for cool downs or to help with meditation and relaxation, etc...).

There are even games for the Wii and other gaming consoles that are designed to help people to get moving and exercise but in a fun way (Just Dance anyone?).

Whatever is it, if it is healthy and you enjoy it, try it out!

There are plenty of DVDs, classes, free videos on YouTube, etc...find what works for you!

If you need help finding the right exercise program for you, just comment below or email me.

Tip of the Day

One thing I learned is not only have big goals and challenges; but also have little challenges and steps to help you research your goals.

Pay attention to how well you did today compared to one week ago, a month ago, etc...for example, when I first started doing the back/butt bridge, I could barely hold it up for long and now I can hold it for longer than a minuet. It shows that each time I try doing something for a bit longer or do one move just a little bit more, I am getting stronger each time.

I may have a long ways to go before I reach my main goals; but I am getting there one step at a time.

We need to learn how to eat right, not diet

So every seems to rage on about Hungry Girl and talking about weight loss and since I am learning about weight loss and was curious, I went to check out some of her recipes. So far, I am not impressed.

So she is more focused on eating less calories than what is actually in the food. A lot of her recipes seemed to have an high amount of sugar and sodium. Also have a lot of processed food.

What we need is less process food, incorporate the right food to eat and learn about portion control.

For people that exercise a lot and trying to build muscles in order to get stronger and toned, you need to have protein. If you happen to be a vegetarian or vegan, you need to learn where to get that protein more naturally than. Even people who do eat meat need to know much meat to eat and which is better. It recommend to try to aim to eat more vegetables but still need a balance.

Just because something is low cal or a substitute, doesn't mean it is healthy. Best to seek advice from a professional nutritionist.

Someone like me hates vegetables, so I am trying find good recipes I can so I eat more vegetables yet have it so it is a tasty meal. Food is fuel for our bodies.

Why not have it healthy AND tasty? Do substitute health with just taste though or just for the calories.

With that said, I think I will have to pass on Hungry Girl. Sorry. Maybe there will be a good recipe once in awhile or maybe there are other recipes not so high in sugar or sodium; but it's not worth it to buy the recipe book though.

Monday, April 11, 2016

I just did 30 mins of exercising using the jar pick method. I ended up doing a bit of dancing, burpees or whatever they are called, wall sits, push ups, arm lifts, lunges, etc....

So basically tried to put in a mix of cardio and other exercises.

Idea for Fitness Challenges

Whether you are starting a group fitness and health challenge or just want to do one on your own; I got an idea that might mix things up and keep it exciting.

Take pieces of scrap paper and write down different exercise, such as a combination of cardio and strength/core exercises (including the amount or time that will do them for); put them in a jar; and pick which ones you will do for that day's exercise.

If you are following a program; write down a few different exercises to help supplement it. If the program is mostly cardio; write down a few core exercises and visa versa.

This will keep things fun and will help you get motivated as it would be like a surprise everyday.

You can also decorate the jars for a fun activity as well or just reuse the mason jars for other things.

Water and its Many Benefits

While it should be something we all know about; many people still don't stay properly hydrated (I am guilty of that as well).

Drinking water not only helps keeps you hydrated, it can also have many other benefits as well.

Drinking cold water is best when it comes to weight loss (it also taste better). It can also help fill you up a bit in between meals. Drinking lemon water is also really great as well.

Lemon can help with your immune system and do many other things well.

You still need to eat properly (the most important meal of the day is breakfast) and exercise; but this will help aid you when it comes to your fitness and health goals!

What to do If You Don't Wan't to Exercise

We all need exercise in order to get and stay healthy; but we don't always want to work out.

One thing you can do is do a little bit here and there while watching TV. Maybe do squats or use weighting during commercials, make a playlist with all your favorite music.

Every little thing can add up and make a different and making it fun or doing a challenge can really help get you moving.

Abs Exercises that are supposed to be better than cruches

http://www.womenshealthmag.com/fitness/abs-exercises

So I been reading up on how cruches are outdated as not only some exercises are more effective; but crunches may also not be the safest exercise to do for your body. In order to get a strong core and flatter abs, we need to work it out; but I think finding which exercise is better is important.

I am learning along with everyone else when it comes to fitness.

What I learned about in Spanish

So I learned that the H in Spanish is silent or mute unless combined with a C (ch).

Great video I found to help learn Spanish.

Letting Go of Anger and Being More Positive

This is something that I have be noticing lately. Too many people are just filled with anger and negativity. Anger for something that happened long ago or something that is really minor, etc....

This is not healthy. Anger can raise your blood pressure but not only that, it can affect your mental state. Letting go of things of the past and learning to forgive or at least trying not to dwell on it can really improve your life. You will start to feel much happier and being happier is a great step to being healthier.

Try to focus on the good things that happened or something that you enjoy. Is there a nice song you like that gets you in a dancing mood? Listen to that. Is there a great comedy you are into? Go watch that. Read a book. Learn a new skill, find a new interest, etc...anything to help let go of anger and focusing on something better.

Also as a bonus, you can make new friends or get people to talk to and listen to you much easier when you don't seem full of hatred or with so much anger that you are about to explode! :)

Workout of the Day

I just did the Brazilian Butt Lift Sculpt workout. If it is good enough for the Victorian Secret models, then it is good enough for me. Though the abs workout is killer. OMG. I also need to work on drinking more water.

I am so excited to announce my first ever month long accountability challenge! Starting April 25th I will be hosting a Weight Loss/Fitness challenge.

5 Ways To Be More Positive

I found this video and I thought it was great!

My Hairstyle Routine 1

So I have thick and mostly wavy hair, so I like to work with what I got or enhance it.

One things I love to do is to help get it curlier with foam/sponge rollers (also can be great for people who are into the pinup or vintage styles).

Basically either after washing your hair or just using a spray bottle to dampen your hair, you take a section of hair and roll it up (different ways of rolling it may give different results). The sponge ones are better as you can wear them over night and sleep with them in as it would be more comfortable. Depending on the length, texture or how tight you want the curler, the size and the amount of foam rollers will vary.

You can also just braid or twist your hair and maybe put it up in a braided bun (this is great for when you are out and about in the daytime and don't have to worry wearing the rollers during the day). When ready, just undo the braids and it should have a bit of a wavy to it.

Once dried enough, you can spray some hairspray to help it hold up, pull on the curls lightly to loosen and just scrunch your hair until looks the way you want it to.

Also some gels or sprays can help keep it from frizzing.

This is the no heat method (though if short on time, you can blow dry it to help speed up the drying process), so it will be less damaging and don't need to use heat protective product or spray.

Beauty Tip-Thayers Alcohol-free Rose Petal Witch Hazel with Aloe Vera

I got a bottle of Thayers Alcohol-free Rose Petals Witch Hazel with Aloe Vera. It is great for your skin and smells so nice (literally like roses). Helps with acne, it is natural, can be used as a toner. There are many different uses and benefits. I got it at a health food store, though you can get it off Amazon.

Later on, I want to order some of those cute strawberry hair rollers. Cute, soft enough to sleep with them in and heard it really makes nice curls.

Tried A New Recipe Tonight

So tonight I just tried a new Shakeology recipe-A pudding make from the chocolate Shakeology, a banana and a avocado.

Different, but not bad. It should also be pretty healthy compared to other shakes out there.

Fitness and Goals

So I created my blog to help share my weight loss journey, about learning how to become a fitness coach to help others and to just give different advice to from health to fashion, reviews, etc....

So I been dealing with hypothyroidism and PCOS which both make it a challenge to lose weight; but I realized it isn't impossible to do so, I just need to start taking action as my health is in my own hands. Doctors can only do so much, but I need to make the choice to exercise and eat healthy. It is my responsibility.

So far I started my journey in January as started working with Cize DVD. I started doing a combination of many different things, working on my diet, drinking Shakeology, introducing weights to my workouts. Sometimes I just put on music and dance around. Anything to help me get active and stay active.

So far I lost about 6 pounds but I think I have gained some muscles due to weight training. I also lost some inches in waist and other areas (my waist was around 38 or inches and now it is about 35).

Before pic-

After pic/comparison-
Still got a ways to go and a lot to learn; but that is why I created this blog. My goal is not only for me to get healthier; but to help others get healthier as well. :)
